For a decade the ABC (Blue) network sustained a program that featured some of the foremost pianistic performers. Piano Playhouse first aired in 1943 with a weekly half hour series hosted by Milton J. Cross. The keyboard music ran the gamut from classical to jazz and showcased such talents as Stan Freeman, Erroll Garner, Constance Keene, Ellis Larkin, Eugene List, George Shearing, Art Tatum, Earl Wild, and Teddy Wilson. Also heard were William Clifton and Cy Walter at the Twin Keyboards and the piano duo of Ferrante and Teicher. The announcer was Charles Woods. Piano Playhouse left the air in 1953.
