After several years of enduring broadcasts of The Army Hour, the Navy finally took to the air with their own Navy Hour. It premiered on July 10, 1945 over the NBC network. Despite the title, it was actually only a thirty minute weekly show devoted to music and skits performed by Navy personnel and guest stars. Lieutenants Robert Taylor and Fort Pearson served as emcees, with music by The United States Navy Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Lieutenant Charles Brendler.

With summer over and the end of World War II at hand, the short-lived Navy Hour was cancelled. The final broadcast was heard on September 25, 1945.
