Dick Haymes replaced Clark on July 25, 1943 and in October of the same year the program was moved to the CBS network at a different time and day. During 1944 the format was altered to include short dramatic sketches that were interjected between musical selections. Lesser known singer Harry Cool took over the starring role, vocalists Larry Douglas and Martha Tilton joined the show, and Ray Bloch assumed the podium to lead the orchestra. In 1945 Lerry Douglas and Marion Hutton took over the show that was then known as Variety Musicale. In the long run, the changes did not serve as the catalyst needed to improve ratings enough to keep the show on the air. It was cancelled in the summer of 1945.
