During 1950 and 1951 a transcribed series broadcast on behalf of Army and Air Force recruiting called Stars on Parade was distributed to local stations. These programs pre-dated the time when military recruiting became paid commercials and were aired as a public service.

The fifteen minute shows featured a varied format of music, drama, and comedy starring top names in the entertainment field. The host/announcer was Joe Ripley.
