A "now it can be told" series of events that took place during, and shortly after, World War Il were dramatized on Secret Missions. The sustaining weekly half hour made its debut over the Mutual network on July 18, 1948.

Hosted by Rear Admiral Ellis M. Zacharias U.S.N. (ret.) who had served as wartime Deputy Chief of The Office of Naval Intelligence, gave an air of authenticity to the program.

However, a disclaimer admitted that "portions of the story you are about to hear have been fictionalized!"Some of radio's familiar voices were heard as part of the weekly dramatic casts. Music was under the direction of Al Finelli and Elliot Jacoby. The announcers were Bill Hightower and John St. Ledger.

The final Secret Mission broadcast was heard in October of 1949.
