Marlin Hurt was a master of what was perceived by the audience to be black dialect. Had Freeman Gosdan and Charles Correll discovered him, he'd have been a natural for Amos 'n Andy.

But Hurt was discovered by Don Quinn, the man who wrote Fibber McGee and Molly.
